What is Prop65?

Proposition 65, otherwise known as the "Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986", is a California-state labeling law that requires businesses, like bebe.com, to notify its California customers of the presence of any of the 800+ chemicals that the state of California has deemed may be hazardous to your health. Here are some important points to take into consideration regarding this measure:

1) Prop 65 is not a health and safety statute.

2) The state of California in the United States is the only state that legally requires this labeling on goods. As such, we have a trigger on our site that announces this labeling on products when someone from California makes a purchase; if you purchase from outside the state of California, that trigger will not send. The presence of a Prop 65 warning on one of our products does not necessarily mean that the product is unsafe or hazardous to your health. It simply means that there are chemicals used in the manufacturing of this product on the Prop 65 list.
